Kinesiology Tape Procedure
1. Preparation:
✔ Clean the Skin: Ensure the skin is dry and free from oil, lotion, or sweat for better adhesion.
✔ Trim Excess Hair: If necessary, trim excessive hair to improve contact with the skin.
✔ Measure & Cut the Tape: Measure the required length and cut the tape, rounding the edges to prevent peeling.
2. Application:
🔹 Stretch & Placement:
- Anchor the Tape: Apply the first part of the tape without any stretch to secure it.
- Stretch & Apply: Depending on the purpose (support, decompression, or activation), stretch the tape between 10-75% and place it on the skin.
- End Without Stretch: The last part of the tape should be laid down without stretch to avoid skin irritation.
Techniques:
✔ Muscle Support: Apply the tape along the muscle fiber direction for activation or inhibition.
✔ Pain Relief: Apply in a crisscross or "X" pattern over the affected area.
✔ Lymphatic Drainage: Use a fan shape to facilitate fluid movement and reduce swelling.
✔ Joint Support: Apply around joints to stabilize and assist movement.
3. Activation & Maintenance:
✔ Rub the Tape: Gently rub the tape to activate the adhesive for better longevity.
✔ Check for Comfort: Ensure the tape does not restrict circulation or cause irritation.
✔ Duration: Can stay on for 3-5 days, even during activities like showering or exercise.
4. Removal:
✔ Peel off gently in the direction of hair growth while keeping the skin taut.
✔ Use baby oil or warm water to ease removal and prevent irritation.
This procedure helps improve muscle function, reduce pain, and support rehabilitation effectively.
